Rap/Hip Hop

Inspirer par un commentaire du membre "Alouette", j'ai décidé de faire du digging dans le hip hop bin.

Je commence tout doucement à découvrir le vrai rap, c'est a dire le rap non(moins) commercial et les albums influent(36 chambers).

Qu'avez vous à me recommender pour approfondir mes connaissances?

C'est le genre de chose qui m'interesse tellement, mon reve c'est de faire carriere comme journaliste de musique, ou travailler sur une radio independante, donc anything goes.

grandmaster flash - adventures on the wheels of steel
afrika bambaataa and the soul sonic force - planet rock
beastie boys - liscenced to ill
boogie down productions (krs one, d nice, scott la rock)- criminal minded
public enemy - yo bum rush the show
ultramagnetic mc's (kool keith ect..) - critical beatdown
n.w.a. - straight outta compton
a tribe called quest - description of a fool
dr. dre - the chronic
wu tang clan - enter the wu tang (36 chambers)
del (tha funkee homosapien) - no need for alarm
dr. octagon (kool keith, dan the automator) - dr octagonecologyst

that should get you started.. most of those are albums.. some of them singles.. im pretty sure its all in chronological order from around 1981-1996.. these are some of the older essentials.. ill make a list of personal favorites with some newer artists if you want.. swiffer will probably have some good input as well..

And I downloaded Cypress Hill "Black Sunday". Mais en fait ce qui m'a attiré vers Cypress Hill c'etait le caractère latino. Los grandes exitos en espanol, a part la traduction de Insane in the Brain, j'aime super bien cet album.

Les Beastie Boys Licenced to Ill, je connaissais celui là déjà. En fait, j'ai trouvé ça ben interessant l'article wikipedia sur les origines du graffiti, ca m'a donné envie de plus decouvrir la scene, et non me fié à MTV.

Puis alouette qu'est ce que tu connais du rap français?

En fait en écoutant Wu-Tang, j'ai remarqué que le groupe IAM avec leur École du Micro d'Argent s'est fortement inspiré de cet album.

dont be suckered in by gimmicks like being latin.. most hip hop is sampled from jazz/latin/funk music anyway..

wu tang clan, on the other hand, is golden.. check out the solo albums as well.. especially ODB, ghostface killa and mehtodman.. id say wutang is very commercial though..

i dont know anything about french rap except that ive hated most of the goups ive seen live.. but i havent been exposed to enough of it to pass judgement.. anyway, its just a language, right?

have you looked into instrumental hiphop or "turntablism" at all?

..for some good instrumental hip hop..

djs tend to experiment more without an emcee to back up.. if youre into jazz this is a good start.. i got into hiphop through turntablism.. they sample the weirdest shit and the technical scratching is pretty impressive..

look for the documentary "scratch".. youll learn alot about the history and evolution of hiphop..

i am no expert.. i am only a student of hip hop.. krsone is "the teacher".. haha

J5 is a very well seasoned group.. numark and cut chemsit are top notch djs.. tunafish (dude with the DEEP voice) is also one of my favorite emcees..

i love that they have a really positive old school vibe but i find they can come off as cheesy after a while.. e.g. having nelly furtado sing on some track about relationships.. ugh..

i kind of wish theyd do more hardcore tracks like "one of them"..

definetely check out tunafish's solo work if you havent already..

Yes Buck65 a fait des très bons albums dont le dernier en date avec et produit par Tortoise.
A mentionner aussi Mike Ladd ("welcome to the afterfuture" est un des mes préférés avec "Nostalgiator" et "Father Divine"); à noter aussi l'excellent "Intonarumori" de la serie Material produite par Bill Laswel et Scotty Hard!
en général les productions de Scotty Hard sont très très bonnes (notamment ses prods dans Kill Dog E).
...et il est vrai que le rap français est plutôt surrané, bloqué sur la scène US des années 95/96, avec un très fort côté "communautariste"(qui tend à "ghettoiser" encore plus le ghetto)...les seuls qui sortent du lot brillent plutôt par leur côté décadent et bigarré (tirant vers la disco-crunk-ghetto-house-electro) que par la qualité de leur travail (cf. TTC et compagnie)...
